We are delighted to be expanding the team at NIXON with the appointment of Stewart Thomson.
Stewart joins the team as a Quantity Surveyor and we be working under the leadership of Richard, Dominic and Tony.
Stewart is a welcomed addition to team NIXON and joins us from a multi-utility company, where he built up experience working with a range of private sector clients throughout the UK.
He also spent a spell in London in a quantity surveying role working across a number of stations on the Crossrail line and assisting with ongoing works to London Bridge Overground Station.
Originally a Strathclyde University economics graduate, Stewart took on the full-time Quantity Surveying programme at Glasgow Caledonian University which he self-funded.
Stewart said: “After project managing for a couple of years, I really want to qualify as a Quantity Surveyor and when I approached a previous employer it just wasn’t possible for them to fund it, so I decided to invest in myself and pay for the course myself. I was really worried about the job market when the pandemic hit but I was able to finish my degree remotely and the investment has paid off with the opportunity now to work at NIXON.”
Stewart will be working across a variety of NIXON’s clients including beginning to work with clients Manorview, ng homes and ViewPoint Housing Association.
He said: “I think if you keep learning then you can keep moving on and I am now looking forward to starting my Chartership with RICS under the leadership of those at NIXON. Getting the backing of the directors to keep learning and working on a number of ambitious and exciting projects is the next step.”
Stewart joins the team following the recent appointment of John McColgan to the construction arm of the business.
